The moon and Vivid Sydney 2018

Vidid Sydney 2018 opened up this year celebrating their 10th anniversary.

I am not that big fan of Vivid simply due to the festival, which runs a little too long (three weeks?) and which hence makes me feel at them a kind of light pollution (sorry for those who love and look forward Vivid every winter).  However, if some nights were on the period where the moon became full circle, it gave me a perfect motivation to night out into glowed and crowded Sydney.  Two nights later, I set tripod at a spot where lets me take Sydney iconic architectures in straight look.  This spot was off-the-vivid area, but it was enough for me to feel festive vibe from a bit afar.

I do not know if I take more occasions for photographing Vivid this winter, I would like to share some of photos I took on the two nights…

The moon always disappeared when I trained my camera at her.

The clouds finally went aside to show me the moon.

Admiralty House Open Day 2018

I arrived at the gate of Admiralty House on last Saturday, only 10 minutes before the official closing time.  The house and garden however were occupied with many people picnicking or strolling he open area in the mansion.  There was a classic Rolls Royce Phantom parked in front of the entrance, introduced as Queen Elizabeth rode when she had visited Sydney.

The open area in the house was limited to half of ground floor, where salon, formal dining room, all where has been used for guests.

Frankly I enjoyed being at lawn and garden much more than the house and furnishing goods.  They were perfect to view Sydney Harbor and Sydney city to eastern suburbs.  I missed taking snapshots of the garden due to no time left, I would like to share some photos of the Harbor and CBD here…

The night of last Blue Moon full moon in 2018

This is nothing new but is subsequent post of another images of full moon, which I had first posted with a monochrome image. .

Like every month do, it fascinated me again.  Sydney sky was perfect for seeing full moon and it made me calm and peaceful in bathing her bright yet gentle light.

I hope these photos are good enough to tell you how beautiful night it was.

Full moon appearing behind Opera House

This is photographed in the evening of second full moon in March.

Roughly 20~25 minutes after the moon rise, top of Opera House roof appeared to be softly bright, then finally the full moon rose behind the roof.

Someone told me that this was the last blue moon in 2018.  I did not know but if so, I was really lucky to be there to view beautiful moon rise.

This made my submission to this week’s Monochrome Madness by Leanne Cole.

Owning up, I miscounted one week for the theme week, which was today, to next week.  She had provided subject ‘from under’ for the theme of the month, but I submit this full moon image by mistake.  Actually, Leanne kindly checked about the image with me, but I did not have alternative I could quickly prepare to replace, I asked her to go as is hence.

That being so, I still like this image so much so I am happy.  I will just try new theme for next month with no confusion.

Monochrome Madness is the community she opens for other photographers and audiences who love monochrome / black and white photos.  Here gives me a great opportunity and challenges about monochrome images.  As it is open community, everyone can participate.
